Donna Talarico has nearly two decades of experience in marketing, communications, writing and media, and about half of that time has been in higher education. With a foundation in print journalism and radio, she’s a storyteller at heart, and she thinks in headlines and soundbites.
From 2010 to 2015, as director of integrated communications at Elizabethtown College (Pennsylvania), she told the E-town story through a variety of mediums as part of an award-winning team. Milestones include establishing the college’s social media presence, the complete redevelopment of etown.edu, and launching E-town NOW, the college’s news website. Her voice was key in a then-new creative direction of the college’s entire creative suite.
Now a full-time writer/consultant, she speaks at higher education conferences, including HighEdWeb, eduWeb, Higher Ed Expert’s online content conference, OmniUpdate’s OU Campus user conference, CASE District II, CASE Multimedia Workshop, PSUWeb and more. She’s been a guest on higher education productions, including HigherEdLive, HigherEd.Social, and vendor-led webinars. She writes an adult learner recruiting column for Wiley and has contributed to CASE Currents.
Donna has a bachelor’s degree in communication studies, an MFA in creative writing, and an MBA. She is founder and publisher of Hippocampus Magazine, a monthly creative nonfiction journal. She lives in Lancaster, Pa. with her husband Kevin.
